Am I A Hockey Slut?

My weekend revolved around the Blackhawks to the extent that I almost feel like a hockey slut. Friday night they took on the Maple Leafs at the UC, and I went early to check out the Harris Club and the Theater Boxes. Both areas were extremely luxurious, and even though I do have a slight addiction to premium seating, I am currently on a fixed income, and will be staying in my usual seats for now. The other deal-breaker for me is that you have to buy both Hawks and Bulls season tickets to sit in those sections. I am NEVER buying season tickets for basketball. I don’t like basketball, and nothing short of Michael Jordan is going to change that.

Saturday I went to the Brent Seabrook ICE bowling extravaganza at 10 Pin in Marina City. I intend to talk about that at length during Monday’s DahlCast. For now, I will only say that I ran smack dad into the middle of Steve Cochran, beat Pat Boyle’s score and got ripped off come trophy time. Nonetheless, I had a lot of fun, and I’ll spill my guts when the hard disc starts recording at around 11:00 CST today. Also, the people who were assigned to bowl with me by the charity couldn’t have been nicer. I have bowling league tonight, and I was thinking that I’m bringing bowling back, just like Justin Timberlake brought sexy back. I’ll have to start working on a version of that song.

Sunday I was at another Blackhawks game. This one was against the San Jose Sharks and I got there right at 6:00 so I wouldn’t be tempted to go and revisit any of the new premium seating. It was Jeremy Roenick Night and they really did a nice job of paying tribute to old number 27. He even got a little weepy during his standing ovation. Chris Chelios was there in the skybox with him too, and they both got a nice round of applause when they were flashed up on the scoreboard. We should stop booing Chris Chelios at Blackhawks games. The Blackhawk traded him to Detroit. It’s not like he went there as a free agent. Brent Seabrook scored the game winner in OT. He had a pretty good weekend too.

I'll never understand why

I'll never understand why fans boo a player who was traded away, particulary a once popular fan favorite like Chris Chelios. It's not like these players ask to be traded...well, Jay Cutler did and so I can understand Denver fans reacting the way they did. But that's the exception.

Having lived in Atlanta and Dallas for a time, I can say with no hesitation that Chicago fans are usually pretty savvy when it comes to sports but they show their ignorance when they boo a player who was traded away. They should be booing the GM or team owners, who made the trade happen.

By the way, during Sunday's San Jose game, when that fight broke out, you were shown on TV Steve, with a big sh*t eating grin going, watching the fight right in front of you. Nice seats...

 Actually, Chris Chelios DID

Actually, Chris Chelios DID ask to be traded, AND asked to be traded to his hometown team (the Hawks) arch nemesis, the Redwings!!

I have much respect for Chris as a player and a person, and understand his reasons for requesting that trade at that time. I will however not regret booing him everytime he touched the puck against the Hawks in a Redwings sweater!!

  If this make you high

If this make you high stick, then yes, you are a hockey slut
